LOVED this special story of HOPE and SECOND CHANCES!The Doctor's Second Chance, by Missy Tippens, drew me immediately into Appleton, Georgia, where Jake and Violet meet because of a precious newborn baby, Abby. Their lives are imperfect, but are filled with trying to be honorable, even during the hard situations they face. In a very touching scene, tears spilled down my cheeks as I could feel the difficulty these people had in making the right decisions. I love when an author touches my heart and emotions that strongly.....and Missy Tippens does that well....and provides a perfect ending. In the note to her readers, Missy reminds us “even though our lives may not turn out as we planned, we discover God blesses us with something even better.” This encouraging story expresses this thought through a beautiful love story…a story filled with the promise of hope and the gift of second chances. I highly recommend this delightful story which warms the heart!

Warning: Extreme swoon factor. Honestly, there is something so...heart palpitating...about a clueless, macho guy taking on baby duty. All those bumbling good intentions, the earnest fumblings, the dear-in-the-headlights gaze. And when the baby starts to make inroads into his tough-as-nails construction worker heart, well...all I'm saying is have a fainting couch on hand! There are some deliciously endearing scenes. And plenty of funny ones. Not to mention heart-tugging. Jake and Violet get off to a rocky start, but as they bond over baby, their relationship transforms into something promising -- until a few complications hold their happily ever after hostage. I gobbled this one up in a day.

"There are a number of comical scenes — such as a crash course in baby care for the single bachelor — as well as heartbreaking ones, too. There are some familiar characters, and some that you hope to see again. The ending is one that may just surprise the reader" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

Title: The Doctor’s Second ChanceAuthor: Missy TippensWebsite: 224Year: 2015Publisher: Love InspiredMy Rating: 5+ out of 5 starsWhen I began reading the novel, it soon became apparent that I wasn’t going to quit reading until the end! I was caught up in the heart-rending drama of a single man raised by an aunt and uncle after his parents’ death in the past and now facing fatherhood when his cousin shows up and leaves her newborn with him. All Jake is aware of is how to do construction and is clueless as to how to care for a newborn baby girl.Jake grew up with his cousin Remy and knows she has a tendency to dump her problems or responsibilities on others before vanishing. Now Jake has to seek the help of the local pediatrician who purchased his uncle’s practice and as far as Jake is concerned ripped off the couple. When he seeks Violet’s help in how to care for a newborn, the past issues in both their lives come to the forefront. For the moment the main focus has to be on the baby, but as time goes by Jake is determined to locate Remy before adopting the baby to make sure it is what his cousin desires. As I read about the past of Violet Crenshaw, the pediatrician is slowly revealed and Jake’s heart begins to melt letting go of his hard feelings. What develops is a touching story of redemption, hope and love even after so much time has passed in lives thought lost to pain or bad choices. My heart at one time really felt the tortures a couple of the characters were going through, but I am glad the author didn’t stop the story. The ending is priceless and renews the heart with hope as lives and loves begin anew. It was a great book to read on a quiet Saturday afternoon!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Jake West has no experience in parenthood - none. So when his disfunctional cousin who he was raised with suddenly lays a baby at his feet and asks him to care for her, he's totally out of his element. The only person he knows to ask is the pediatrician who took over his uncle's practice, Violet Crenshaw. Violet resents him for spreading rumors that she stole his uncle's practice. As they join forces to take care of the little baby, they start feeling like a family. Their relationship grows from "Christian love" to concern for a baby to something made of mutual love and respect. But violet has something from her past that's holding her back, and when she goes against an important decision that is made, it may wreck any hope of romance! This was a very sweet book. Though I knew where it was going to go in the end, I held out hope it wouldn't...SPOILER BELOW:I was not happy with the way Remy treated Jake. He did a big thing for her and let his heart go there. I think he deserved a little more than she gave him in the end...My heart went out to Jake who had his world ripped apart so suddenly without much consideration for his feelings...

I scored free copies of all of the Love Inspired books releasing on April 21st, and this one was by far my favorite!!!It was the second book by Missy Tippens that I had read, and I knew going in that she was an awesome author, and she didn't disappoint! What would you do if you were a single guy who suddenly found himself responsible for an infant that was just a few weeks old? No notice. One moment you were sitting there drinking coffee and the next you were looking at a screaming baby with no one to help you? Enlist help of course. However, the best person to help also happens to be a ruthless business woman who devastated your family when she moved to town. Can Jake suck up his pride and do what's right for his new responsibility... and do it without letting the baby take hold of his heart, because surly her mom will be coming back to get her... right? You'll have to read this book to find out.

Once I opened this book, there was no stopping until I turned the final page. Missy Tippens did a marvelous job of tearing my heart out, complete with real tears and moments of laughter. Going through the emotionally charged situation of caring for a new baby with Jake and feeling the intensity of Violet's heart longings and past hurts made The Doctor's Second Chance an unforgettable story. Experiencing Jake and Violet's sweet romance through their eyes was heartwarming. I was thrilled to return to Appleton Georgia, a little town I fell in love with in Missy's book, The Guy Next Door. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Jake, Violet and little Abigail, and it was great to reconnect with Chloe and Darcy. As always, Missy Tippens has written a beautiful story of faith and romance, spilling her heart over the pages to touch yours in a way you never expected.

Wonderful, tender story. A tiny baby helps her cousin and also her doctor to learn to trust again. This was well written. I fell in love with the characters especially the baby. But I especially loved the Inspirational thread throughout the whole book. Here is a favorite quote from this book."God it's me again. I don't know what to do...I can't do this anymore. I can't do this all by myself. I've made a mess of every relationship in my life. I need you to take over." I look forward to reading more books by this great author.

I enjoyed reading The Doctor's Second chance by Missy Tippens. Jake West's cousin left her two week old daughter with Jake. She said she didn't want the baby. She had been on drugs and an abusive boyfriend. Pediatrician Violet Crenshaw helps him learn how to care for a baby. They both end up loving the baby. Plus falling in love themselves. Babies mother comes back into the picture. Lots of hurt feeling at first. A must read.

Very sweet book. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and fell in love with Violet immediately. I wish I had a huge review to write for this book but honestly this book is just a feel good book. There are a twist or 2 but really just a straight forward story of love, forgiveness, and patience. And of course faith in what God is doing.

This was a great novel. I loved Violet and Jake separately but even more together. They both grew so much by the end of the novel. Only the ending, however, was not to my liking. I wasn't expecting it. I read Love Inspired precisely for the expected endings, so that aspect definitely bugged me.

I loved this book! Missy Tippens grabbed my heart with the issues these two face without overkill. They actually act mature and reasonable when a lot of heroes and heroines would have more difficulty then they should in overcoming whatever has caused the rift. Great job!

Good story. What's not to like about a guy trying to take care of a baby by himself? Some of the characterization and resolution felt a little too forced. Maybe that was just because of the length of the book. Still, it's a satisfying read that kept me turning pages until it was over.

I liked this book. A strong women and a bachelor who is a gentleman. I found Violet and Jake were very like-able, each with their own set of problems that would bring them together.. A story that was interesting from start to finish. I was gifted a copy for my honest opinion by FlyBy Promotions.
