josiah trenchard and the morgenstern Reviews
This book picks up pretty much where 'The Might of Fortitude' left off. The main characters are all there as well as a few new faces, and in this book they are further developed by the author. Again the action is fast and furious, with a number of subplot threads running from the first book, through 'Morgenstern', and beyond. So while this works as a self-contained story, the urge to get stuck into the next in the series is all too strong. The humour remains unashamedly ribald, and the gore, plentiful. The writing is fluid and uncluttered, so this is an easy series to get hooked on. I cannot recommend this enough. If you are a lover of Scifi/action, then give these books a try. A bargain at the price!
I read the first novella of Jonathon Fletcher’s series Josiah Trenchard The Might of Fortitude and liked it immensely. So, when the second novella came out, I had to read it, too. I was not disappointed! Josiah Trenchard Part Two Morgenstern picks up where Part One left off.The crew has some new members, but enough of the original crew to make it a familiar place to return. The mission starts off with a bang and never lets up. Josiah Trenchard’s crew has to secure and protect a research facility in an asteroid belt. There, they find a remnant of military research that has been revived. I will leave it there so as not to spoil the story, but suffice it to say that the military grade humor, blood, and gore that were hallmarks of the first installment are present here!I liked the plot and the multiple subplots that are present in the story. The novella reads nicely as a stand alone work, but leaves you ready to dive into the next installment. If you are a fan of space science fiction with a healthy dose of military style, check out all of Jonathon Fletcher’s novellas! You won’t be disappointed!!My Rating: 4 Stars!!
'Morgenstern' is the second novella in Fletcher's action-packed sci-fi series about space captain Josiah Trenchard and his adventures.I loved the first book in this series and the second book is even better. The plot is solid and action-packed with some creepy horror elements added in this time. The horror is nicely done and the plot well paced. The sense of humour is still very much present too, which is awesome!Trenchard is just brilliant as the main character, he amused me several times throughout the story. I also enjoyed newbie Noir's impact on the story and on Trenchard himself. If you enjoy action sci-fi with adult humour this series should keep you hooked! I tore through this book and will be following the rest of the series as it continues.
This is the second book in an immensely good series and is definitely worth grabbing to continue the story. The star of the first part, Josiah Trenchard, is back with a new ship and new order - this time to protect an abandoned space processing plant. However, all is not what it seems to be and the problem is bigger than just the space pirates.Another well written book with credible characters and scenes. This would be well worth a five star review but, as with the first book, it's somewhat frustrating that what is clearly meant as a longer tale has been broken up into several micro books.R P Rochford. Author of: A Born Victim
Part one hooked me, part two has sold me!!I am a fan!Balls to the wall action...this novella took what was great about the first one and injected it with an extra dose of awesome!!There really isn't anything bad I can say, the only reason I give it four stars instead of five is because of its length. I just flat out wanted more. And more is what I will get with part 3.So if you will excuse me, I have some reading to do!
I read the first book in the series and it sorta had me hooked. This one finished the job. Now, I gotta read the third one. The intrigue has me.
Genesis of MorgensternThis is book two in the series. It picks up right where book one ended. I liked the characters especially Joe Trenchard. It has a great storyline and is easy to follow. Joe is now a captain sent to guard an old shut down station on the outskirts of the star system. There they collide with a beast of a cyborg called Morgenstern. This book has mystery, espionage, loyalty and great battle scenarios. I look forward to reading book three of this series. It's definitely a great read!
