Mix "The Walking Dead" with "The Extinction Cycle", add some "The last ship" and a little dose of "World War Z", and "The Tide" is what you end up with. Entertaining and well written. I will keep reading till the bitter end.

These books just keep getting better and better! I love how the author meshes some of the characters' backstories right into the same paragraphs where they are knee-deep in skulls and fighting for survival. In this book, Dom and his crew travel to the Congo to try and get to the bottom of who developed and then started the spread of the ONI agent. Here, The Hunters encounter two new kinds of skulls...one titanic...one minuscule...both highly intelligent and incredibly cunning. The Hunters are used to the mindless skulls who use sheer numbers as their only means of getting what they want and the Goliaths who use brute force to get what they want, but these new skulls really throw them all for a loop! They have to be more vigilant and cunning themselves in order to survive the Congo and not all of them will make it out alive! And what they end up finding in the Congo will answer some questions, but will raise a few more. There is also horrific trouble brewing for those who were left behind on the Huntress as the science and medical team work furiously to take care of the survivors in their care and to find a way to stop the ONI agent once and for all. They could not have predicted what their race for a cure would unleash in its wake. The Huntress's only helicopter pilot, Frank, who was separated from The Hunters in the 4th book has finally broken away from his captors and goes through Hell and back to reunite with his crew. If miracles were tangible things, Frank would be popping them like Vitamin C! He faced so many unbelievably weighted odds and although he came out beaten and bruised on the other side...he did indeed come out on the other side! The author has a straightforward way of drawing you in to the story and making you care about all of these strangers who come together in an epic and honorable search for the people who devastated the world in such a horrific way. You actually feel like you are part of their story and you experience what they experience...and the odds just seem to keep stacking up against them! At least they have acquired some new friends in the Congo and from the Azores and have also acquired a prisoner now who can give them some much needed answers! Too bad we have to wait for book #6 to get them! Ha!

This is the fifth book in The Tide Series and also the final book which has been published. As with the previous four books, the story flow is a bit slower choosing to focus on the details of each battle and significant event. I enjoy this style of story telling, however, if you prefer a plot that expands quickly then this series may not be for you.In this installment the Hunters are pushing hard through the Congo in the hopes of reaching those responsible for the Oni outbreak. While the Hunters do battle, the rest of crew works hard to find a cure for the virus. One thing I really enjoyed was the introduction of two new types of skulls. I won't provide any spoilers about these new beasts, you will just have to read it for yourself.I'm hoping for a sixth book in this series to be released soon.

THIS SERIES JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTERWhat an awesome Book #5 as Anthony Melchiorri has done it again and this series just keeps getting better and better. This book has it all and it doesn't slow down, from the first page to the last page here's another book in this series you won't want to put down. Dom and his crew are in for the fight of their lives, with Imps & Titans in the mix you think it couldn't get any worse. But now the Hunters are fighting for the rest of humanity. The only answer is, who will win? I want to say this book is the best by far, but I seriously loved each and every book in this Series. I highly recommend this book to everyone out there and I can't wait for #6. This is also one series I would read a second time, it is that good. Anthony Melchiorri, you rock!!! Keep the stories coming.

The fight for humanity continuesDom, Meridith and the Hunters on on a mission, not just to clear their names but to find the true architects of the Oni Agent. It leads them into the jungles of the Congo. New monsters are discovered, more horrific that what is already out there but to find answers, the possible discovery of why they were targeted, framed and why. There will be losses and pain but in the end they also find new friends that have as much at stake in the discovery of a way to stop the final assault and destruction of all life on the planet. To make matters worse there is another battle being waged on the Huntress itself as Lauren and her team discover the unthinkable has happened. It is slow in places but only to show the desperation of each group as they fight for survival and the final battle is an all out fight that will decide it all.

Love this addition to the series. Very epic in scope, I could really see this in the big screen.Loved getting to know Frank a better, wasn't sure I'd enjoy that part of this story, but I should have known better. Parts of his story actually had me cheering for him.Dom and the crew are on an adventure that is nothing short of nail biting. It also made me cry. Again. Hate when he makes me cry, but this story also has some epic knock down fighting that is incredibly fun to read. Can't wait for the next book to come out in this series.

Next page, please! This is a great series! Every book keeps getting better, and every time I read them again my opinion raises. One of the hardest things about this series is schooling myself to read slower so I don't miss any of the little details that make up the bigger story. Next page, please!

Enjoyable near zombie stories - new twist, books are as close to books as I have seen for a while - natural split and sensible size, not 1 book per chapter. Enjoyed and got to the end and the story actually stops at a natural place and does not need another book which is a good ploint of closure. Well done. Not a zombie in sight but decent baddies.

Excellent read that is tension-filled, action-packed, and has some of the best genetically-mutated monsters in fiction I've read. The Congo unleashes probably the most haunting of the Skulls -- Titans. While this is nicely tied up, it's left open, which means there is definitely more in the series, and I will definitely be waiting to read the next. Highly recommended.

This was actually better than the last books. We finally got some development, and not just mindless action. That said, I'd have been happy if this had been the final book. It's dragged enough already.

This series just keeps getting better more suspenseful. While pilot Frank is still lost and separated from the Hunters in Virginia, Dom and his crew head off to the Congo to follow a new lead on the people responsible for the Oni Agent. There were several twists and turns in this one...some good, some bad, and some shocking...culminating in an ending that definitely hints at another volume. If you haven't picked up this series yet, you need to!I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I shed some tears and held my breath a few times while reading this. This is a mixture of Post-Apocalyptic, Medical, and Military genres.Frank, the Hunters' pilot, was separated from his team. His journey is fraught with danger and even his sense of humor was dealt a few blows. On the other side of the world, the Hunters are facing some things that threaten to tear them apart - literally as well as figuratively.I appreciate that Mr. Melchiorri shared some of the emotional turmoil that Frank and Dom, among others, were going through. I felt it was appropriate because what they were facing was beyond what anyone would even know to train for - let alone expect to face.Warning: There is Violence as well as Adult Language.

Great bookThere's a part of me that hates finishing a good book, especially when I know there's more story to tell. I know there well be a book 6, and I can't wait.

A Real Titan!I absolutely loved this book. It has a breakneck pace as the story alternates between Frank, the Hunters and the scientists. This series gets better as it goes and I cannot fault it. The battles are epic, the science is blinding, the characters feel incredibly real, the Skulls are hideous yet astounding.A massive 5 stars for a book I heartily recommend, as well as the rest of the series.*This was an ARC, I chose to review and my opinions are my own.*
