Unfortunately for her, her brain goes on hiatus anytime Morris Jackson is around. Looking like a bobble head whenever he asks her anything isn’t the best way to go about getting a man like him interested. Not like ruggedly handsome ex NavySEALs go for quirky, accident prone introverts like her. Plus, even if she did have a snowballs chance in hell with him, him being her brothers SWAT teammate doesn’t bode well for her. A girl can dream though! Morris: Those blue eyes sucker punched him the minute he looked into them. It felt like the ground had literally gone out from under him. Mellie is everything that he could ever want and everything that he shouldn’t have. Even if he didn’t know that she’s too good for a guy like him, her brother would never be okay with it. He is over protective and proud of it. But at some point you have to say screw the consequences and go after what you know is meant to be yours. Too bad someone wasn’t happy for them when they found their way to one another. Someone will make sure that they don’t stay together by any means necessary. They’ll even kill to get what they want. ...

When I saw this book, the title and the cover attracted me straightway. It has a very Lani Lynn Vale feel to it (and I love Lani Lynn Vale). When I read the blurb I was hooked. Who does not want to read about awkward shy girls and badass SWAT boys.I loved Mellie’s initial awkwardness around Morris. She has some real moments when you just want to curl up and hide your face in embarrassment for her but as her character and story develops, you get to see this introverted, awkward women come alive into this sassy hilariously oblivious women. Mellie and her brother Marc’s relationship is something else. The dialogue between these two had me giggling frantically as I devoured this book. Morris is a swoon worthy hero if there was ever one written, I LOVED how Nikki Mays made him real. His acknowledgment of how completely bowled over he is by Mellie, his insecurities and own awkwardness around her makes him endearing from the moment you meet him in Chapter 1 but when he gets it together he gets it together :-)With the introduction of secondary characters you are left wanting to know more about each of the men who make up the SAPD Swat Team (I just need to know who is next, Marc, Damon, JJ, Declan or Rocco?)I also liked the lack of angst. It was just a slightly suspenseful, romantic good read which had me looking up the Nikki Mays on social media so I could follow her and be in the know as to when the next book will drop.

I have not really done any book reviews before, but I really like the promise of this series. I know there will be reviewers that will not be able to get past the grammar issues in this book. But everyone else that can this was a fun book read it and enjoy it like I did.I really liked this book, and will read the others in this series. The main characters are fun and sexy, with enough detail on the supporting ones that I look forward to reading about them in future books.BUT for the author; my suggestion is for you to work on the proofing of the book, there were many "wrong" words. Here is an example: “Her snarky tone means nothing to me as I enough my chocolatey goodness.” I think having a few more beta readers would most likely clear that up, turning this 3 star into 5.
